We all know people who are borderline obsessed with essential oils, and let’s admit it, there are some great and interesting uses for them, even if it’s just to make a room smell light and fresh or to deter your cat from marking his territory on your couch. People use essential oils for cleaning purposes, relaxation, and hundreds of other reasons. We were curious about essential oils for the summertime, so we compiled a list of fun essential oils uses for your summertime fun.
Before we start:
Essential oils are NOT intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or other condition, and all areas involved in this article are simply our own findings via other opinions and suggestions and/or fun and interesting ways that others use (or suggest to use) essential oils. Remember to always do your own research before giving any essential oils a try.
AIR FRESHENERS
We all want to feel “summery” when the weather is warm outside, and part of that involves our sense of smell. We want to actually smell summer. Impossible? Nope! Try diffusing or spraying a couple drops of Jasmine, Bergamot, Grapefruit, Lemon, Mandarin Orange or other citrus oils to give your home the sweet summertime smell it deserves.
RELAXATION
Lavender seems to always be the go-to oil for relaxation, but let’s not forget about other oils like Roman Chamomile or Ylang Ylang! Summer can get extremely stressful, so to have aromas like these to potentially help calm nerves, it’s sure worth a try!
MENTAL STIMULATION/ FOCUS
Some people claim that certain oils can help to heighten your senses and bring your mental focus to a sharp point. Oils like Lemon Eucalyptus, Peppermint, and Rosemary are said to help your mental focus and to keep you alert and awake on long drives to your favorite vacation destinations. We aren’t sure if it works, but again if you’re curious, give it a shot!
SKIN CARE GOODNESS
As contract manufacturers, we are all about trying new things. If you want to try your own DIY scented lotion or body butter, there are a slew of essential oils to choose from. Everyone has their favorites, but for a true summery scent, add a couple of drops to your favorite lotion using oils like Neroli, Helichrysum, or Geranium.
COOL OFF
So it’s too hot of a day outside, but you have to go do yardwork anyway; try diluting several drops of peppermint oil with a little water and a little diluting oil, add it to an empty spray bottle, and spritz your body with it (be sure to avoid your eyes) — it’s said that this will give you a cooling sensation that can help to battle extreme heat as you get your outside tasks done! Does it work? You won’t know until you give it a go!
